Civic Seed is on online multi-player RGP to prepare college students for community service work that is now an integral part of many undergraduate experiences. Tisch College of Citizenship and Public Service was interested in testing a game to enhance student learning and deepen understanding of the social and historical context of the organizations and communities they are conserving.

The game was programmed in Unity and we had strict technical limitations, so sprite sheets had to be kept to an absolute minimum size. Coming up with tiles that could be reused throughout the game without becoming monotonous was a challenge.

The NPCs for this game were a design challenge, as they could have a maximum height of 64px, while being visually distinct, animated, and in keeping with the game's aesthetic. I really enjoyed creating them and working with a copywriting intern to describe their personalities.
